Gmail & Outlook SMTP/IMAP Live Tester FAQ
What is a Google App Password?
A Google App Password is a 16-character passcode generated in your Google Account (Security > 2-Step Verification > App passwords) that allows secure third-party SMTP/IMAP socket access.
Are my email credentials saved or logged on your servers?
Never. Your credentials are only held in temporary memory for the duration of the direct socket connection and are discarded immediately upon socket close.
Why did I get Error 535 Authentication Failed?
Google requires 2-Step Verification to be turned on before creating an App Password. Standard account passwords will be rejected by Google SMTP with code 535.
